To provide better protection and security to the State Government and Central Government offices, undertakings, employees of all such establishments, public sector undertakings in the State of Maharashtra, vital installations, financial institutions, religious institutions, educational institutions, and like, as well as to private commercial institutes, corporate bodies, manufacturing units etc., Maharashtra State Security Corporation has been established vide Maharashtra State Security Corporation Act, 2010 ( Maharashtra Act No. VI of 2010).
As per the mandate of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation Act, 2010, Maharashtra State Security Corporation has raised a security force, Maharashtra Security Force. This well trained Force is actively engaged in providing security and protection to various institutions and organizations spread all over Maharashtra.
Maharashtra State Security Corporation is a corporate body, headed by an IPS officer of Addl. Director General of Police, who is Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Corporation.
Secretary-in-charge of the Home Department of the Government of Maharashtra is the Chairperson on the Maharashtra State Security Corporation. Other Directors of the Board are: Director General of Police, Maharashtra, the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai, the Commissioner, State Intelligence Department, the Principal Secretary (Special) in the Home Department, Secretary-in-charge of the Finance Department, and Additional Director General in charge of State Reserve Police Force.
